Overview
Kisspeptin (Kp-54, Kp-13, Kp-10) is a family of neuropeptides encoded by the KISS1 gene that play a critical role in the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Research has established kisspeptin signaling as the primary driver of GnRH pulse generation and as the central regulator of puberty onset, fertility, and reproductive function.

Mechanism of Action
Kisspeptin binds to its G-protein-coupled receptor GPR54 (KISS1R) on GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus, stimulating GnRH release and subsequent LH and FSH pulses from the pituitary. The arcuate nucleus kisspeptin/neurokinin B/dynorphin (KNDy) neurons form the GnRH pulse generator.
