Overview
Follistatin-344 is a recombinant form of follistatin, an autocrine glycoprotein that binds and neutralizes myostatin (GDF-8) and activin. Myostatin is a negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass, and its inhibition has been shown to produce dramatic muscle hypertrophy in research models. Mechanism of Action
Follistatin binds myostatin (GDF-8) and activin with high affinity, preventing their interaction with ActRII receptors on muscle cells. This removes the inhibitory brake on muscle differentiation and hypertrophy signaling through the Smad2/3 pathway, allowing unopposed myoblast fusion and fiber growth.
