Ghrelin is a peptide hormone produced in the stomach that stimulates hunger and growth hormone release through the GHS-R1a receptor.

Ghrelin is often called the "hunger hormone." Its receptor, GHS-R1a, is the target of growth hormone secretagogues (GHRPs). Ipamorelin, GHRP-2, GHRP-6, and Hexarelin are ghrelin receptor agonists that stimulate GH release. MK-677 is an oral ghrelin receptor agonist. Ghrelin also regulates appetite, sleep, and reward behavior.
